If you've ever wondered how your mental performance affects your ability to run faster, train harder, and achieve your goals, today's guest has the answers. Lisa Bonta Sumii talks about the mental side of sports performance and shows us some of the areas we can focus on to elevate our game, while also providing concrete examples of how our skills in sport translate to life.

Today I am talking with Lisa Bonta Sumii, LCSW. Lisa is a therapist with over 21 years experience. She’s based in California and currently works with student athletes and professional athletes. She received her Master’s in Clinical Social Work from Smith College School for Social Work in 1994. She’s been in private practice for over 15 years where her focus has primarily been on working with individuals/couples of color, exploring areas such as: racial/ethnic identity; the impacts of intergenerational, community, and interpersonal trauma; healthy relationships; and positive coping skills. In the last 2 years, Lisa has pivoted to specialize in supporting athletes in optimal mental health and sport performance. She currently works with elite student-athletes and professional  and athletes, across all sports.
